Phi Phi, The Round Up (Part 1)

Woken up by 2 Australian girls we were quickly informed it was time for the beach, Jon and Max rushed out the door but I needed a shower before I did anything because I have some hygienic standards, I then went down to the beach and met everyone, on the recommendation of one of the girls I treated myself to a chicken and cheese baguette, wether or not it was actually chicken is anyone's guess as it came in burger form and looked nothing like chicken, I still polished off my mystery meat baguette and was rather full. I sat at the beach for a bit before becoming bored and leaving to go back to the room. The rest of the day I spend watching videos of BNP leader Nick Griffin and UKIP's main man Nigel Farage until the guys come back. Upon their return we watched some football and just generally relaxed til the night arrived.

We spruced ourselves up and went for dinner at a swanky little place up some stairs, i had a pizza which was way too small to satisfy me so I ate some of Max's rice which was lovely, Jon done his usual of ordering something and picking out all the vegetables that he doesn't like, you would think perhaps he would order a non vegetable based dish, but no not Jon. As soon as we left we went to what has become our start off place, much like European holiday destinations most of the bars have people trying to drag you in with the offer of free drinks, in short these people are scum and they wind me up so I quite obviously ignore them. One of the Australian girls found us and took Max away to book a tour with us for the next day, while he was away a random lad approached Me and Jon and asked if he could get a beer and sit with us, obviously I said yes. I felt awkward like I had to entertain him but instead didn't really give him much attention while Jon engaged in what can only be described as a conversation. He asked where we were from and we proudly replied "England" when prompted where he came from he muttered the word "Germany"....we had found ourselves in the company of a crout...called Krïs. Max returned and Jon and him made there way to the bar while I made small talk, he had an odd stance, while I was sitting on the chair he had his leg up on the step under the table and sort of blocked me in while bending his standing leg in time with the music, from the right angle it probably looked as though we had engaged in oral sex. As the night progressed I ended up having great conversation with Krïs and he turned out to be a great guy apart from being a repulsive German.

He had different plans for the evening so we went our seperate ways, much to our relief, and the guys plus the 2 girls went to the beach. I only remember parts of what happened after that but as far as I remember we lost Jon and one of the girls, Jon walked off and when questioned later where he went he quite bitchily blamed Me and when I denied any involvement he said he "remembers everything about last night" so naturally I asked what I had done to annoy him he said he forgot, the boy is a walking contradiction but I will let the reader decide if I really was to blame. After this Me, Max and Hanna found ourselves on the beach alone, so obviously we decided to start singing, Michael Bublè songs mainly but mixing up when we chose, we quickly attracted a small crowd who joined in and even suggested songs, we had a good time singing before the 3 of us left the others to sing the night away.

We then went to get pizza and Jon turned up again so the 4 of us went back to the beach, at this point we lost Hanna, Me and Max found a couple of Israelis I presume were Jewish so we decided the best course of action was to pretend to be South African, this went on for a while before Jon said "I'm not sitting here on my Todd" and walked off back to the hotel. From then on the night took a strange turn, we had a doubles pool match with the Jews and I can't remember the outcome but Max was shit, from absolutely no where a deck of cards appeared and one of the Israelis said "do you know how to play poker?" I replied "Texas hold em?" he nodded his head and it was game on, as mysteriously as the cards appeared so did another Jew and also an Estonian, the game was quite enjoyable until one of the stereotypically tight Jewish guys threw money on the pool table, it was then that i realised shit just got serious.

During the match with vast sums of money flowing about Max decided it would be a good time to tell me he didn't know how to play, I'm no master of etiquette but I realised it was bad that Max kept showing me his cards and asking what to do. We played a good 30 hands before calling it a night and we were even joined by around 10 locals who watched and cheered when hands were won. I'm not sure my exact figures but I woke up today with quite a few notes in my pocket so il assume I played well. After the intense game we went back and slept the night away.
