Singapore

Touching down in Singapore on what I believe was a Wednesday we were greeted with a celebrity encounter as Bargain Hunt A-Lister David Dickinson was just a few feet away in the check in queue. After the paparazzi had dispersed and we had calmed ourselves down we proceeded through the gates and out the airport. We found the nearest taxi and gave the address to the hotel, my heart sank when the words "little India" were mentioned, we all looked at each other and wondered why we had ever let Jon book the accommodation, we arrived at the hotel and Jon's questionable organisation was called into action again as we had arrived at the hotel around 8am, when as we all know that is WAY too early to check into a hotel, we was told to come back about 11 so we did, we went for a walk to a shopping centre and I took advantage of the free wifi to call Alex, I had obviously forgot about time zones as I wondered why he wasn't at work at around 10am, he angrily reminded me it was 2am back in England so I decided to let him sleep and we said farewell. The heat was almost unbearable, a breeze was non existant which made it feel even hotter so it made us check out nearly every shop we crossed just to get out the heat and wipe the sweat off our faces, Max looked well prepared for the heat as it seemed he had thrown a bucket of water over his head while no one was looking.

The first night we went for a lovely Chinese and everyone but Max "Englishman abroad" Walters chose the chopsticks, the food was delicious but very hot, we stayed here for a few drinks before moving onto a backpackers bar hoping to meet some similar people and enjoy the experience, we placed our orders at the bar of 2 ciders and 2 beers only to be greeted with the insanely priced quote of $40, Jon rushed to the toilet to throw up, Max made her repeat it just to make sure and naturally I thought it was very reasonable as I'm infact made of money. We went outside for a chat about guys stuff and indulged in a game of pool between me and Max (which I won). We got talking to 2 American girls who were not very interesting and they left after trying it on with me but I declined before Jon had a chance to cock block. One more point worth mentioning is Jon's round came to $50, which made me laugh. That night I woke up randomly and turned over and saw what I thought was a ghost, it looked like a pale faced girl standing over max so I got scared and hid under the covers, after reflection the next day I decided it was probably a towel that was hanging in the wardrobe.

The 2nd and last day in Singapore we woke up to take advantage of the "continental breakfast" which consisted of spring rolls, samosas, curry pasties and eggs, we were surrounded by Indians and it reminded me of a prison scene in a film where all the ethnic groups stick to their own with the white boys in the corner, after that we went to the beach which I must say was lovely, I had a very long swim and was joined occasionally by Jon and Max, Jack decided to top up his tan which he did very well, whereas the rest of us turned red and have been in agony ever since, we had a McDonald's which was filthy and my nose randomly started pouring with water which I had to stop.

I have to mention the trains which were so clean and efficient it made me hate English transport that little bit more. We got back to the hotel/shithole and had 7 minute lay which turned into a couple hours nap before heading out for our last night, we went to the harbour which was beautiful and had Christmas decorations up everyone which brought up the discussion of if we had this in Watford it would be destroyed in a day because people seem more civilised and appreciate the things they have in Singapore, we took in the sights, got some eats then caught the last train back to our hotel and past a dead kitten that we saw earlier, I couldn't pass up a photo opportunity so I snapped it. We woke up the next day about 7 and taxi'd it to the train station to cross the border into Malaysia, I made friends with the customs made who referred to me as "Mr London" he made small talk but I think he thought I had drugs up my bum, which brings me to the current point in time sitting on a train for 6 hours waiting to get to Kuala Lumpur.
